Why don’t you just question him. Be blunt about it and casual, like it’s no huge deal. Don’t be judgmental either way. Just be upfront, clear, and honest. Question!

Believe it or not, the simplest and quickest solution to solve your problem is to simply question him. Clarify to him that you want to date him some time and simply question if he’s gay or not, tell him your conversation will remain confidential. If he is a gay, and pleased to be, he won’t care that you questioned. If he is closeted he MAY freak out. If he’s straight then apologies and there should be no problem.
