Nowadays, bags are a necessary tool as well as a fashion and style accessory and no longer limited to one gender. In these times when men have also become as fashion conscious as the female gender, bag makers have also come up with bags for men which have been designed to be masculine, attractive and an ideal addition to the contemporary wardrobe of a professional. While women’s bags are stylish and meant to complement their dress as well as body shape, men’s bags are more practical, sedate and conservative.

There are now so many different styles available but when choosing a bag for yourself it would be best to question what you need the bag for because there are different types of bags. The different types of bags which can be categorized based on its application. Do you need it for travelling or for daily use? If for daily use, do you need a casual or a formal bag? Do you need it for the office, for travel or for a game or the gym? These are just a few things you need to question yourself because there are various types and the design is based on the function as well as the fabric used to make the bags. Some styles are interchangeable meaning they can be used every day as well as bring them for a trip whether for business or pleasure. These are some of the styles you can choose from.

Traveling Bags

These are the types of bags that can keep all the documents, business equipment for the presentations or business meeting as well as clothes for a day or two of travel. It can vary in sizes, fabric or material used as well as shape and whether on wheels or not.

Holdall or Carryalls

One type of traveling bag is the holdall. For a weekend jaunts or a three-day business trips it is no longer necessary to bring the huge and bulky luggage unless it’s more than a three-day trip or a family vacation. The design is inspired by the duffel bag and is meant to carry everything needed for an out-of-town but instead of cylindrical it is more rectangular with two grab handles that allows it to be carried and instead of drawstring it has a zippered opening at the top. Also the huge difference between the duffel and the holdall is in the material used. While canvas is used for duffel, holdalls are most often made of leather so it’s more stylish and sophisticated than duffels. It can also be called a gym bag when made of cloth and carried sports equipment. A nice leather holdall would be a fantastic accessory for your business casual attire.

Laptop Bags

With technology, the ability to do a lot of your work even when traveling has become simpler and more convenient. With just your laptop it would be so simple to communicate and even run your company and be in constant communication with your office as long as there is an available internet connection. No wonder, laptop has become of the most vital tools for business. And to ensure its safekeeping, it is very vital that you have a superior quality laptop bag or laptop case.

When choosing your laptop bag, consideration must be made to make sure that it can carry not only the laptop but also all its peripherals like the mouse, computer adapter, battery pack, portable printer and all that you need with it. If you plot to include documents then make sure the laptop bag or laptop case has compartments for it.

Laptop bags are available in different styles and even colors. There are laptop bags that sort of camouflage the presence of the laptop so it doesn’t look like a laptop bag. There are so many designs and colors to suit your own fashion style.

Messenger Bags

The messenger bag is aptly named after the bags used by messengers or postman who needed to have a bag that would carry all the mail while leaving their hands free to place the mails in the mailboxes. With the modern twist and elegant makeover, messenger bags are now staple look on students with the messenger bags in canvas with audacious designs as well as yuppies or young professionals with modern leather bags. The basics of having a long strap and worn diagonally across the shoulders remains except they just have been made more fashionable and updated suited to the urban taste and the younger generation.

When travelling the messenger bag could carry your documents which makes it simpler to access rather than putting it in your luggage.

Backpacks

Backpacks are one of the most versatile bags as it is available in different style, use for different applications, and offered in a variety of fabrics or materials as well as sizes. As the word implies, these are the bags that are carried on one’s back with straps that go over the shoulders. They used to be just identified with the students who needed to carry their books and food to school but nowadays these are also used by some professionals to carry their laptops. We can often see men in their discount uniforms carrying a backpack over one shoulder and these are specialized backpacks for laptops.

Backpacks can be used for a business trip as well as long vacations or even cross country. And this is where the designs and fabrics of the backpack differ to allow for the different needs.

Tote Bag

The rigid look of the briefcase can sometimes be so daunting. If you feel that way, then you can also use another style of the briefcase which is less formal. The tote bag functions basically the same as the briefcase but more modern and a excellent pair for your business casual. Usually made of soft leather it has longer handles that gives it the modern touch.

Choosing the right bag for you depends in your own taste and fashion sense. Make sure though that you choose quality over looks so you can maximize its use.
